On the way to Memphis Mary Lou Reaton was on the flight. If you don't remember, she was a gold medal gymnast.
We got in last night around dinner time and went to the Barbecue Shop for dinner. We had ribs and a beef brisket sandwich with coleslaw. They eat their ribs dry here with sauce on the side. I got a jar of rub to try out at home.

We then took a walk to Beale Street, which is where the blues started. The sign is BB Kings club.

This morning we went to the National Civil Rights Museum. It's at the Lorraine Hotel where MLK was killed. The museum traced the history of the civil rights movement. The museum also includes a building across the street where James Earl Ray shot him from a boarding house that he lived in.

After lunch we went to Sun Studio, which is where Rock and Roll started. This is where Elvis made his first record.

By coincidence, the Million Dollar Quartet, a Broadway Musical was playing at the Orpheum Theater. It's based on a true story when Elvis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis had a jam session at Sun Studios. It was a really good show.
Tomorrow we head to Graceland, Vicksburg, where one of the largest Civil War Battles took place and Natchez, which is known for its Civil War Antibellum (pre Civil War) homes.
